Designed, Built, Sold!

Before

You may remember this post of our before shot. Nice little bungalow we could have been quite happy in, except the wonky kitchen layout. What started as a kitchen reno, turned into an added bungaloft (bedroom above the garage), which turned into a second story and then a tear-down and rebuild for the purpose of selling.

So here we are, 2 years living in our dream home, just for kicks, we have sold it and are onto the next project - modern treehouse? But first, pics from the mls tour (forgive my old furnishings - we did not stage, but easy to see what's going up on Kijiji soon).

Grace & Frankie...and the yurt.

I love the idea of this show, but haven't decided on the acting or script. I find excellent actors quite stiff. Hopefully, they'll relax as the season progresses. I feel their just reciting their lines. That said, the decor of the sets is spot-on (kudos to set decorator Beauchamp Fontaine).
In what I thought was a sunroom of sorts, I discover from last night's viewing is a yurt. I was particularly taken with the armless L-shape sofa (only I think I want arms).

Building a Bar

We've been designing a bar for the basement and I needed to come up with some inspiration for the cabinet makers. I apologize for not crediting the first three photos (I found on Pinterest a couple months ago). We are not doing uppers, so air stone or brick-laid subway tile could make a nice backsplash, although I'm leaning to stone.

McKinley House aka Californication set

From Venice, Cali, do you remember the scene?

I think it was Karen's boyfriend Bill's home, whose daughter Mia ripped off Hank's novel, "***ing and Punching." I could be wrong; it's been a while since I've watched it. Whatever you think about the show, the houses/sets were amazing. This is the McKinley House designed by architect David Hertz and a slideshow of this house (and others) can be seen here.
